Girly Harry Potter Themed Bedroom

Girly Harry Potter Themed Bedroom.  This post will give tour to a whimsical, magical, girly Harry Potter bedroom. One magical enough there may even be chocolate frogs or a hidden sorcerer’s stone.

This all started with with a bedroom needing a fresh coat of paint and turned into a full bedroom makeover. I could see the excitement in her eyes as I granted her the freedom to pick the perfect theme. A theme I know she loves best: the enchanting wizarding world of Harry Potter.

Why a Harry Potter Bedroom?

Who wouldn’t love a magical bedroom? The request: pretty and Potter :).I thought this would be difficult, but after a quick search, I found a treasure trove of pretty Harry Potter items at Pottery Barn Teen. I let her pick the duvet cover she liked which let way to inspiration for everything else in her room. She is thrilled with how her room this turned out!

Bedding

Duvet Covers/Comforters

After sifting through many beautiful options from Pottery Barn Teen, bedding was narrowed down to these choices:

Ultimately, the Magical Toile Duvet is the winner. There are shades of purple, blues, and touches of gold. As long as I can remember, my daughter has asked for a canopy to be hung above her bed.

Canopy

This was the perfect addition and just what she had been thinking of. It is from PotteryBarn Teen too. The tulle is a pretty bright white with gold shimmer spots, that do not flake off!

There are fabric ties on it as it can be used for a bed with posts/ true canopy bed. However, in my daughters bedroom it is hung from the ceiling with a tall head board and looks beautiful. Eventually I may hem the bottom shorter, but for now we both like the way it gathers.

Pillows

In kids rooms I like to keep the decorative pillows to a minimum (I’m the designated bed maker still). We already had a body pillow, a soft plushy cover was an easy update.

This is the pillow cover from Target is very soft, washes up well, and easy to get on. Here a a few other options that would work in a girly Harry Potter themed bedroom.

Décor

As for other décor, a HP room isn’t complete without birdcages, flying keys, candles, a golden snitch, or mirror of Erised.

Flying Keys

This flying key “kit” was easy to put together and suspended with fishing line. Small sticky dots are on the ceiling to hold the string to the ceiling.

Lighting

For ambiance, pillar candles arranged around the room for ambient lighting. “Floating” candles would be a wonderful addition, I have done that on the front porch for Halloween. I love that way that looks too!

Bird Cage
